Edible oil is one of the heaviest things a food carton carries: a case of 5-litre jerrycans weighs close to 20 kg, and a crushed bottom corner or a split seam lets it down in the warehouse. Eastern Dragon makes edible oil cartons in Addis Ababa for sunflower, soybean, palm and sesame oil producers, built around your bottles or jerrycans and the weight of a full case.

Bottles usually travel with a partition grid that keeps them apart; jerrycans sit tight to the carton walls so they cannot shift. The board is chosen for the case weight and the stacking height: 5-ply for heavy jerrycan cases and tall stacks, 3-ply for lighter bottle cases. Oil soaks into board and stains the print, so the carton fits the product closely and bottles are packed clean.

Which board do edible oil cartons need?

It depends on the case weight and the stack. Jerrycan cases close to 20 kg and tall warehouse stacks usually need 5-ply board; lighter bottle cases often run on 3-ply. Send the filled weight and your stacking height and we will recommend the board.

Do oil bottles need a partition inside the carton?

Bottles travel better with a partition grid that keeps them apart and stops them knocking together. Jerrycans usually fit tight to the carton walls without one.

Can the carton show the oil type and bottle size?

Yes. The brand, oil type, bottle size and count and handling marks are printed on the carton, and you approve a print proof before production.
