Packaging students tour the Eastern Dragon factory

Forty engineering students followed a carton from paper reel to finished box on a morning at the factory.

Visitors and Eastern Dragon staff walk through the paper-roll area of the factory.

Forty engineering students spent a morning at the factory and followed one carton from the paper reel to the finished box.

The visit was a walk down the line, not a slide presentation. Students from packaging and industrial engineering programmes saw how a printed carton is actually made, and where a job can go wrong.

The route they walked

  • Paper reels and the corrugator, where the liners and the fluting become board
  • Printing, where the brand is put onto the sheet
  • Die-cutting, where the carton is cut and creased
  • Quality control, where the finished piece is checked against the approved proof

What the quality team showed

Board is checked before it is converted, and every order is compared with the proof the customer approved. The students saw why a carton that looks right on a screen can still fail if the flute, the print or the crease is off.

Factory visits are arranged ahead of time. The factory is in the Gelan area, near the Tulu Guracha industrial zone. Call the sales desk and we will set a time.
