Specifications

Built to your spec.

Eastern Dragon’s offset printing division in Addis Ababa prints books for publishers, authors, schools, churches, NGOs and companies: novels and poetry, textbooks and school books, manuals, reports and hardcover books made to last.

Softcover books are perfect bound, with the pages glued into a printed cover; thin books can be saddle stitched with staples through the fold. Hardcover (case bound) books have their pages sewn or glued into a rigid cover. The text is printed in one colour or full colour on the paper you choose, and the cover in full colour, laminated to stay clean.

Every book starts from a print-ready PDF and a proof you approve. Get your ISBN from the National Archive and Library Agency before printing, and remember that Ethiopian law asks the printer or publisher to deposit copies of every printed book with the Agency within 30 days.

For a quote, send the page count, the finished size, the paper, colour or black and white, the binding and the number of copies. You can use the form on this page, call, or send it on WhatsApp.

FAQ

Good to know.

How much does it cost to print a book in Ethiopia?

The price per copy depends on the page count, the size, the paper, colour or black and white, the binding and the number of copies. With offset printing the price per copy falls as the quantity rises. Send those details and we will quote.

Can you print books in Amharic?

Yes. We print from your print-ready PDF, so Amharic, English and other scripts print exactly as typeset. Embed the fonts in the PDF so no character is replaced.

What files do you need to print a book?

A print-ready PDF of the text pages at the finished size, and a separate cover PDF that includes the spine and 3 mm bleed. We confirm the spine width once the page count and paper are chosen.
